3.x's ICOMP and even COMPILE were miles ahead of the ISBuild tool. Custom, broken compressed file format WHY is it called.CAB? It's not a standard cab file, standard tools do not work on it. If you need to make a small change to the compressed file after it's built, you have to rebuild the entire project. The IDE is extremely hard to use, and I can't escape it for even the simplest task For some reason, the IDE developers decided to abandon virtually every text editing convention in existence. *Selection* doesn't even work right in 5.1! *Search and Replace* could cause an infinite loop!

Obviously the IS guys aren't using their own editor. The registry editor is truly a masterpiece of frustration. I'd like to meet the individual who decided to take the hierarchical registry and represent it as a flat list of keys. If you create two neighbor keys, you end up having to type out 'SOFTWARE Company Key1' and then 'SOFTWARE Company Key2', each in their entirety. If you have more than a few keys it's completely unmanageable. Also, there's no provision for not overwriting existing values in an upgrade situation; you have to write code for this very basic operation.
